Equipment Room / Compressor

air compressor maintenance

Here are some items to include in an air compressor maintenance:

  • Visual inspection: Look for cracks, leaks, or damage
  • Oil level: Check the oil level regularly and change the oil if needed. Low oil levels can cause the compressor to overheat and shut down.
  • Oil filter: Change the oil filter regularly, usually every 1,000 hours.
  • Air filter: Change the air filter as needed.
  • Condensate: Drain condensate from the air tanks regularly.
  • Oil separator: Check and replace the oil separator filter if oil is getting into the compressed air lines.
  • Drive belt: Check the condition of the drive belt if applicable.
  • Temperatures: Check and log the temperatures of the drive motor bearing, fan motor bearing, oil cooler, and after cooler.
  • Leaks: Check for oil or air leaks.
  • Voltage and amps: Check that the voltage and amps are correct.
  • Vibration: Check for excess vibration in the parts.
  • Coolers: Blow out the coolers and check for debris.
  • Moisture trap: Check the moisture trap or auto drain.
  • Oil sample: Perform an oil sample analysis.
  • Ambient conditions: Check and log the ambient conditions

high pressure pump

Maintaining a high-pressure pump involves regularly checking for leaks, inspecting seals and gaskets, cleaning filters, monitoring pressure and flow rate, lubricating moving parts, ensuring proper alignment, and replacing worn components like bearings and seals according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule; always follow the specific instructions for your pump type and operating conditions to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Hydraulic tank maintenance

 maintaining a hydraulic tank:

  • Check the oil Check the oil's color, odor, and consistency for contamination. If the oil is foamy or milky, it could indicate a leak.
  • Check the fluid levelMake sure the fluid level is adequate. Low fluid levels can cause sluggish performance, strange noises, and leaks.
  • Clean the reservoir Regularly clean the reservoir to avoid operating problems and ensure a long equipment lifecycle.
  • Clean filters Regularly check and replace filters to maximize uptime and reduce repair costs. Clogged filters can no longer remove contaminants from the hydraulic oil.
  • Inspect for leaks Leaks can occur throughout the hydraulic system and can lead to a loss of hydraulic fluid.
  • Check the system temperature Use a built-in or infrared thermometer to check the system temperature. If the system gets too hot, it could indicate an issue with the cooler or relief valve.
  • Change the fluid and filter After the initial 50 hours of use, change the fluid and filter. Thereafter, change the fluid and filters at regular intervals.
  • Keep contaminants out Keep contaminants out of the hydraulic system by cleaning the area around dipsticks, fill plugs, and hydraulic filters before removing them.
  • Store fluid containers tightly Keep all fluid containers tightly sealed when stored and pour directly from the container into the system.

Car Wash Chemistry

Your car wash’s cleaning chemicals depend on clean, soft water. These chemicals are generally reliable, but you may have mechanical and manufacturer issues that affect their quality, such as:

  • Failed check valve: A failed check valve directs chemicals and water back into the container, making a mess and ruining your chemical supply. If you notice leaks or blockages in your check valve, you’ll have to get it replaced.
  • Spills and leaks: Equipment leaks and spills can contaminate your products, destroying the chemicals’ drum and ultimately reducing performance quality. You’ll have to replace or repair any faulty equipment to avoid future contamination.
  • The blending of harmful products: Combining two chemicals could harm your equipment, employees and customers if they result in a dangerous reaction. Avoid mixing products unless you’re confident they’re identical or compatible chemicals.
